Biological and Biomolecular
Label Chemistry

Research in the Rentmeister group focuses on RNA at the interface of chemistry and biochemistry. We aim to understand and control the processes governing mRNA expression and turnover. To address these problems, we develop chemical and chemo-enzymatic tools for manipulation, analysis, and control of mRNA. Our methods include chemical and chemo-enzymatic approaches, allowing us to choose the best strategy. We implement these modifications in living human cells and in vivo. Our group covers in RNA chemical biology, cofactor, and protein engineering.

Team Retreat

Jul 09. 2024

It was great to have the Uni Muenster and LMU Muenchen parts of the group re-unite for a productive 2-day retreat.  We enjoyed a pleasant hike to the Andechs Monastery and visited the scenic Ammersee.

Spending time together allowed us to share a wealth of ideas, sparking new insights and fostering stronger collaboration.

Team Retreat

The Rentmeister group is based on the 1st floor of the ICEM (Institute of Chemical Epigenetics) building in Munich. This state-of-the-art facility is recognized for fostering cutting-edge research at the intersection of chemistry and biochemistry. As a prominent hub in Munich, ICEM provides an ideal environment for scientific innovation and collaboration.
